Absolutely, she will enjoy the activities and the pace of our Mini Athena Camps.
At Athena Camps we design the curriculum based on grade level and group the campers by the grade level they will be entering in the fall.
Athena Camp, Mini is our camp option for girls entering Kindergarten, 1st and 2nd grades in the fall. Entering Kinder through 2nd* grade girls may sign up for a half day camp (9am-1pm) or full day (9am-3pm).
Athena Camp, Junior is our traditional full day camp (9am-3pm) for girls entering 3rd through 5th grade in the fall.
Athena Camp, Middle School is our day camp for middle school girls entering 6th, 7th and 8th grade in the fall. This camp is a unique camp separate from the Mini and Junior camps. It runs from 9am-3pm and located on the same campus as the Mini and Jr. camps.
Absolutely, we would love to have her! Each session we have girls with various types and degrees of allergies. There is a place on the registration form to give us details about her allergy. For severe allergies we require that you fill out the “Allergy Form” in the Forms section of our registration system. We would also ask that you arrive 30 minutes early on the first day of camp so that you can meet with the Camp Director and go over special instructions and hand off any medications.
All full-day camps start at 9 AM and end at 3 PM.
Our Mini Camp offers a half-day option that starts at 9 AM and ends at 1 PM.
We recommend you drop off your daughter around 8:50 AM so that she has a few minutes to put her belongings away and visit with her new friends. We try to start our Opening Circle promptly at 9 AM. Pick up is a 3:00 PM. After 3:10, your daughter will be sent to Extended Care and you will be charged.

Philosophy
Yes, absolutely, but we recommend you sign her up for different sports so she can be exposed to new experiences and add to her current skills. Our hope is that girls leave Athena Camps equipped with the confidence to try new things throughout their life.
Yes! This is one of the reasons we created Athena Camps. Our entire camp is geared to making sports fun for girls. We meet the girls where they are and emphasize building skills and body confidence.
We recommend you ask your daughter which sport she might be interested in trying, and then emphasize the awesome art projects and new friends she will make at camp.
We recommend asking your daughter which sports she is most interested in and then picking the camp based on your summer schedule and which theme is most appealing.
The girls can be on the same team, if that is something that would make them more comfortable. Please let us know if you would like them to be together; otherwise, we will assume that you would prefer them to be in separate groups and teams.
At Athena Camps, we group the girls together by grade level. The groups are together for art and sports. All of the camp comes together for snacks, lunch, and free play. In the afternoon the girls are put on teams. The teams are made up of girls from all of the different grades. This gives the campers a chance to make new friends in the entire camp.
In the mornings, Extended Care is somewhat subdued. The girls express their creativity on the walls, read books or interact with the coach in charge. In the afternoons, the girls in Extended Care are ready for more action. Once the other campers have been dismissed, the girls and a coach play games outside and draw, read and relax.
Many girls come to Athena Camps without the comfort of having a friend accompany them. Our camp is all about making new friends. Our coaches are aware of the fact that many girls come solo and encourage inclusiveness among all campers. One of the underlying purposes behind most of our activities is to foster communication and connections. Friendships generally happen quickly and spontaneously/naturally at Athena Camps.
Athena is a Greek goddess of many strengths and talents. She represents courage, strength, wisdom, sport, arts and crafts. We chose Athena to be a role model for the qualities we hope to inspire in our girls.
She will spend an hour of her day at Athena Camps playing volleyball. She will also spend an hour playing tennis. The rest of her day will be filled with activities designed to help her bond with the other campers, opportunities to explore the qualities that may her unique, activities to foster healthy communication, and lots of time for all-around pure girl fun. Being that she is already highly skilled in volleyball, she may enjoy the opportunity to be a leader and let her volleyball talents shine.
Athena Camps is designed for all girls regardless of their athletic abilities or experiences. Our coaches teach to all levels in their groups. Athena Camps sports philosophy is to build confidence through successful experiences in sports through non-competitive skill building and games. Many campers walk out of Athena Camps with a love for a new sport and go on to join a team or take further lessons.

Yes, we offer a Coach in Training (CIT) program for girls entering 9th through 12th grade. You can find out about it on the “Camps” drop down menu under “Coach in Training: 9-12”.
Mini Camp size is a minimum of 12 girls and a maximum of 36 girls.
The Junior Camp is a minimum of 12 girls and a maximum of 36 girls.
The Middle School Camp is a minimum of 8 girls and maximum of 24 girls.
Athena Camps, for Middle School girls is designed for girls in, or entering 6th through 8th grade. The camp size is smaller for more intimate and mature discussions about issues girls face, such as body image, cliques, peer pressure and stress. The environment and curriculum is designed specifically for their age and developmental level.
The sports are taught by college-age coaches and the afternoon Team Time is designed to teach healthy competition among girls – how to complete and then leave it on the field.
The art projects and discussions are more mature in nature than Athena Junior.
We will stay with your daughter until you arrive. Please call or text the Camp Director and let her know your expected time of arrival. We will charge your credit care $50 late fee, in addition to the cost of After Care.
Don’t worry. Unexpected delays happen. Just call or text the Camp Director and let her know. We will let your daughter know and she will spend time with the other girls in After Care until you arrive. (The cost of a one time stay in Extended Care is $50. We will charge your account on file.)
We offer after care in the mornings, Monday-Friday from 8-9am and in the afternoons from 3:00-5:30pm Monday through Thursday. Friday afternoons, we end with our Family Closing Circles and we ask you to take your camper home with you or arrange for pick up by 3pm.
The rates depend on the number of sessions or camps you enroll in. See the Pricing section of your camp.
Per our policy, after April 15, there are no refunds for extended care.
To sign up for Extended care please email info@athenacamps.com or call 408-490-4972.
Just let the Director know at the check-in table the morning of and we will make sure she is ready to go.
Yes. When you register your daughter, you will be asked if there are any other people who will be authorized to pick her up throughout the week. They will need to show a picture ID when they come to pick her up. We will match the ID to the name you have given us on your registration form.
She will be called out to you from inside the camp classroom once you have signed her out on the Check-out sheet.
You and your daughter will be greeted each morning by one of our cheerful camp coaches! They will be able to answer questions and direct your daughter as to where to go. The Camp Director will also be on hand if you need additional assistance. You will be asked to sign your daughter in each morning by signing your initials to the Check-In/Check-out sheet.
We have an active day planned for her; filled with two sports, free play, and creative (sometimes messy!) art projects. Please make sure she wears sneakers and play clothes, that can get dirty. Also, don’t forget a hat for the sun and a sweatshirt for the cool mornings and the air conditioned rooms.
Drinking water is super important, and we provide lots of opportunities and reminders throughout the day to drink up. We fill big jugs each morning with fresh water and ice, and encourage the girls to stay hydrated. Please have your daughter bring a water bottle so she can refill throughout the day. Athena Camps no longer provides water bottles for our campers.
Please pack a hearty lunch and lots of snacks! In addition to lunch, we take two snack breaks to keep the energy up and the hangry down. Our girls need nutrients, hydration, shade and girl talk! Athena Camps is in the process of partnering with a lunch provider as an optional add on.
No, Athena Camps provides all the necessary (and more) sports equipment in sizes to fit all ages and abilities. If your daughter has her own, she is welcome to bring it and can keep it in her cubby for the day. We ask that you label it with your fist and last name and bring it home each day for security.
Since we will be outside for a good part of each day, please have her apply sunscreen before camp and send sunscreen with her so she may reapply throughout the day. She should also bring a hat or visor, a refillable water bottle, a hearty lunch and healthy snacks (nut-free please).
