Athena Camps' vision is to build communities of girls and women who nurture and uplift each other in order to have a positive lasting impact on our world.

We help girls aged four through fourteen develop their whole selves. Athena Campers participate in sports and creative exercises to learn how to give and receive positive affirmation, make new friends, and acquire the strength and grace to be their best in every situation.

Our Philosophy

Athena Camps is not a traditional sports camp. Our goal is to build body-confidence through sports, giving girls a sense of control over their bodies. Research states that elementary age girls should be "sampling" sports rather than specializing, learning skills and a "love for the game", rather than competing.  In middle school, we know sports participation boosts girls' self-esteem, provides focus and builds social confidence. At Athena Camps, girls of all ages have fun and successful experiences with sports and are empowered as their athletic ability grows. Creative, girl-focused projects and facilitated group discussions serve as social opportunities to connect and express emotions in a nurturing community.

Safety & Security

Each year we create a team of inspirational women – teachers, coaches, student-athletes, and moms – each with her own inspirational life experiences and stories to share. Directors and Coaches undergo a background check and training in positive coaching, group facilitation, and youth development principles.

Our small camp sizes (maximum of 36) and great coach to camper ratios (1:8) assure that each girl is well cared for and always safe. Photo identification is required for authorized pick up and every girl is signed in and out each day.

We strive to design programs that take all campers and staff into account. That said, we will not always be able to accommodate each individual’s specific needs.

Most common needs and/or potential challenges are often accounted for, and we know that every person and family is unique. We commit to providing transparency and support during your camp selection process and your week(s) at camp. This includes guiding you to make the best decision possible when choosing your camp program.

Certain sports such as lacrosse, horseback riding, and self defense, do carry some inherent risks. If you have questions, please contact us at 408-490-4972.
