Summer day camps for girls entering Kinder through 8th grade! Three camps, Mini, Junior, and Middle School, are totally unique while held on the same campuses for your convenience. Click on the plus sign in the appropriate colored box below for details about each camp.

Camp Descriptions

  • athena camp, mini

    Grades K-2, 9am-1pm or 9am-3pm
    • Sports

      Half Day: 9am-1pm or Full Day: 9am-3:00pm
      • Tennis & Volleyball
      • Soccer & Basketball
      • Yoga & Running
      Girls are split into small groups for two 50 minutes sessions of high energy, fun, developmentally appropriate, sport-specific games and activities. Sport-specific equipment is modified to fit our campers. Instruction is energetic and brief. Girls enjoy multiple cooperative games and daily successes. Half day campers have one sport station and one art station per day.  
    • Activities

      Daily Opening, Affirmation, and Closing Circles give each person an opportunity to be seen and heard while setting a positive tone environment and for the day.   Girl Power Games: We emphasize team building activities and games that encourage new friendships and connections in light fun ways.   Art projects and Coach led discussions invite girls to create unique art projects based on the weekly theme, allowing creative freedom and expression. Coaches encourage girls to share their special project with the group in a supportive setting, but there is no pressure.

      Connect & Communicate

      Girls thrive on meaningful relationships and healthy communication.  With a focus on connecting with their feelings and inner wisdom, Athena campers practice communicating with each other in real and meaningful ways.   Art projects include: "This is Me" suitcase, Brave Girl Truth Cards, and self portraits.

      Love & Express Yourself

      Girls often don’t know how, or are afraid to express and love themselves. Athena Camps helps young girls with the courage and confidence to articulate their best qualities. The inviting space that fosters deep, interpersonal connection helps reveal campers’ talents, proudly voice them, and celebrate what makes girls so extraordinary. Art projects include “Character Capes”, “Handprint Gardens”, and other fun activities to remind Mini campers to love and express themselves through friendship and creativity.

      Unleash Your Happiness

      Summer is about playing in the sunshine and delighting in what brings us joy.  Research shows that through mindfulness, focusing on one’s strengths, and the power of positive thinking we can find lasting happiness. Art projects include "Joy Finders", “Marvelous Maracas” and Marble Mazes and other fun projects to help girls discover and own their happy place by examining their daily delights and relishing in personal strengths.

    Grades 2-5, 9am-4pm
    • Sports

      • Tennis & Volleyball
      • Soccer & Basketball
      • Yoga & Running
      Girls are divided into age-appropriate groups for two 55-minute stations each day. Sport-specific techniques, drills, and games are taught daily with each lesson building on the previous one. By the end of each week, girls learn all the main skills necessary to play each sport. Sport-specific equipment is modified for age and ability. Each sport lesson includes fun, cooperative games. Team time emphasizes team building and sportsmanship through experiential learning. Girls are divided into 3 teams of 10 girls with an assigned coach who will guide them through a variety of games and light competition.  
    • Activities

      Daily Opening, Affirmation, and Closing Circles set a positive environment, and Girl Power Games bring girls together to play and connect. A special Athena Camp "Boost Board" invites girls to leave positive messages for each other all day, every day. As girls open up and make new friends, the notes multiply. Save Friday afternoons for our special Family Finale. Family members and friends are invited to attend a final Closing Circle and Ceremony to take part in the special Athena Camps culture. (Takes place at 2:45pm on Friday at most locations.)

      Girls thrive on meaningful relationships and healthy communication.  With a focus on connecting with their feelings and inner wisdom, all campers will practice communicating with each other in real and meaningful ways.  In addition to self-exploration, Junior campers will not only connect with their own hearts, but they will also learn to embrace and celebrate the uniqueness of others.  Art projects include: a "Me" Flower, doodle self-portraits, and kindness cards.

      Love & Express Yourself

      Girls often don’t know how, or are afraid to express and love themselves.  Athena Camps helps give young girls the courage to articulate the qualities that they are proud of in a loving environment.  The inviting space that fosters deep, interpersonal love helps reveal campers’ talents, proudly voice them, and celebrate what makes girls so extraordinary.   Junior campers flourish in the warmth and peace of self-expression.  Projects and discussions include Love Stones, "I AM" canvas, and a Friendship Pie.

      Unleash Your Happiness

      Summer is about playing in the sunshine and delighting in what brings us joy.  Research shows that through mindfulness, focusing on one’s strengths, and the power of positive thinking we can find lasting happiness.  "Unleash Your Happiness" activities will help girls discover and own their happy place by examining the things that are daily delights and relishing in personal strengths.  Campers will learn to recognize, focus, and celebrate their attributes.  Projects include a personalized photo frame, a Joy Jar, and a Strength Banner.

    Grades 5-8, 9am-4pm
    • Sports

      • Self Defense & Basketball
      • Fitness & Volleyball
      • Yoga & Softball
      No previous experience necessary!  Learn, practice, and play two sports a day, hang out with your friends, and eat!  By the end of the week, you will have improved upon all of the main skills necessary to enjoy and/or compete in these sports.  Our goal is that every person leave Athena Camps with a willingness to try new things, greater self-confidence, and life-long friends!  
    • Activities

      • Circles - Daily Opening, Affirmation, and Closing Circles set a positive environment and give everyone a chance to check in.
      • Girl Power Games - "Minute to Win It" team building, fun games are designed to help girls get to know each other while having a blast
      • The "Boost Board" invites girls to leave positive messages for each other all day, every day. As campers open up and make new friends, the notes multiply.
      • The Lounge - a quiet corner for campers to "chillax", read, and hang out during our down time.
      • Mentorship Opportunities - Upon attendance of a 2017 Athena Camp, middle schoolers are invited to become a Junior Coach for one week a Mini Athena Camps (grades K-2)
      • Family Finale - Save Friday afternoons for our special Family Finale. Family members and friends are invited to attend a final Closing Circle and Ceremony to take part in the special Athena Camps culture. (Takes place at 2:45pm on Friday at most locations.)
    • 2017 Camp Themes

      • Empowerment Skills - Daily 75 minute lessons focused on mindfulness and meditation, healthy relationships with ourselves and others, communication skills, emotional awareness and intuition, abuse, bullying and gender role socialization.  All lessons are designed by Stanford professor and clinical psychologist, Dr. Jennifer Keller.
      • Social Media for Positive Change - Daily 75 minute exploration into the world of social media via interactive activities, videos and discussions.  Topics include internet safety, social media applications, digital drama and stereotypes, and positive uses of these platforms.  Lessons are taught by our expert Coaches in fun, interactive, and engaging ways.
      • Safe Sitter Certification - 6 hour training spread over 5 days of camp.   Each 75 minute lesson is interactive, entertaining and engaging, as you and your friends learn the safety and business skills necessary to care for young children.   You'll leave with 120 page Training Manual, a certification card, new business skills, and confidence to care for young children on your own.  Endorsed by the American Heart Association.

Mini Camps – A perfect first camp!

Our Mini Camp is designed for girls entering Kinder through 2nd grade.  Girls are grouped by age for all sports and art projects.   Campers have the option of attending full day from 9am-3pm or half day from 9am-1pm. Weekly camps are offered all summer in both San Jose and Los Altos!

Middle School Camps!

We are excited to offer Summer Day Camps specifically designed for Middle School girls. These camps are only for girls entering 5th through 8th grade and focus on issues relevant to girls in this age group.
